The consequence is that when facing issues like how to raise funds to finance this intended expansion, or how to proceed in acquiring some foreign business to add to their own, the need for some creditable, knowledgeable professional to show them the way is really worth having. 

There are legions of  highly capable and often well known professional firms and institutions available in Financial Centres around the world who serve as consultants for a fee, but in many cases for a smaller business, these fees are judged to be too much with no guaranteed outcome in view.
